Because most of factory finished hardwood flooring has micro-bevel edges, when floor is installed, those edges will form v-groves between the boards. Those may be smaller or larger depending on the flooring manufacturer. Dirt and grime may collect in those groves if the floor is not maintained properly. V-grove also creates lines on the floor, that may bother some people. That's why some of our clients still prefer smooth finish of hardwood floors that are finished on site.
